The Challenge

Getting tested for step-throat is, historically, a painful process, both physically and emotionally. A pediatric emergency physician put together a team to revolutionize the patient experience.

The Approach

To avoid rushing into a solution, we took the time to extensively research the current state experience, where we focused on the patient rather than the test.

Through the development and testing of both service and digital prototypes, understanding the customer journey, and engaging with diverse stakeholders such as patients, parents, physicians, insurance personnel, and military personnel, we were able to identify the root causes and gaps in the experience.

The Key Insight

The compounding frustrations of the overall journey and experience from symptoms to prescription were more exhaustive than the test itself.

When healthcare systems overlook the toll on patients and caregivers, they fail to give them optimal results for recovery and care.

Healthcare should first and foremost put its people at the center of solutions.

The Solution

After research and development, CurieDX was born.

It is an innovative and cutting-edge digital solution that leverages machine learning and telehealth to close the gaps in the experience by saving time and energy while minimizing inaccurate antibiotic prescriptions.

All that is needed is a picture.

The Business Outcome

CurieDX came in first place in the Johns Hopkins MedTech Venture Accelerator Competition Hexicte (Exited for Healthcare) in 2022.

That same year, Curie DX also secured $200K in grant funding and is expected to reduce wait times by 75%, save $12 billion for insurance companies, and increase doctor reimbursements by 20% per visit.

CurieDX came in first place for the Johns Hopkins Technology Innovation Center Accelerator program, Hexcite.
